Cleric Counsels PMB On 2019

A clergyman and founder, Garden of Love Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Sunday Balogun, has counseled President Muhammadu Buhari on the 2019 elections.

He called on President Buhari to drop his plans to contest the 2019 presidential election and focus on transforming the country and make it a pride of all Nigerians.

Prophet Balogun, who had variously counseled the president against re-presenting himself for re-election, on Saturday, said that President Muhammadu Buhari could become a great hero of democracy if he chooses to sacrifice his ambition for the sake of peace.

The cleric, who spoke while answering questions from journalists at an event to mark this year’s Easter celebration, said, “I had a revelation that there will be blood bath if the president does not shelve his ambition’.

According to Prophet Balogun, history would judge the president right if he ensures the return of peace and unity in the country, noting that it would be difficult for the president to be mobilising Nigerians for peace and security and at the same time be mobilising them for his rumoured second term bid.

He said, “I am advising him to please, try and be a hero and a statesman and forget 2019, that the day he announces to Nigerians that he is not going to stand for election in 2019, he will become an instant hero. You cannot combine two things at the same time.

Prophet Balogun said, “Aside the revelation, I believe that national transformation cannot be combined with contesting election. The two are so different, because once you get involved in the election campaigns; you undermine your authority to lead the nation. If I were the President of Nigeria, I would restrict myself to serving the nation, transforming this country, creating a new Nigeria, creating a new society. That would be my concern, and I would go down in history as a hero.
