……as 10000 Ezza people stage solidarity rally for Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi yesterday insisted that despite the resignation of the former Secretary to the State Government, Prof Bernard Odoh, he must be made to face his alleged meddling in a murder case involving a Development Center Coordinator from the area.

Governor Umahi who made the declaration at the Government House Abakaliki when over 10000 people from the clan staged a solidarity rally in support of the governor noted that the former Secretary to the government before his resignation was meddling into a murder case which the state government frowned at.

The State Governor who faulted the resignation of the former SSG disclosed that it is against the law of the federation for any public or political office holder to either resign on a public holiday or weekend and declared that the SSG stands sacked.

While expressing his joy over the thousands of people that besieged his office for the solidarity rally, the Governor apologized to the People’s Democratic Party PDP, his campaign organization, Divine Mandate and the people of Ezza for appointing the former SSG describing his appointment as a huge mistake.

According to Governor Umahi, “it was a case of betrayal, let me first apologise to the PDP family for that wrong appointment and the Divine Mandate campaign organization. The young man I thought was an Ezza man because Ezza man does not behave like he did”.

” if he had wanted to resign, he would have come and resigned honourably not the act of wickedness and maliciously. A place you have called house, you are now calling it bush. This is not the character of an Ezza man. His intention was to distract us but we are not distracted, we are moving forward and nothing can stop us”.

The Governor further accused the former SSG of running a deceptive administration and introduced an unpopular policies which he said was against his conscience adding that the SSG rather than contribute to the success of his people, he has continuously waged war against his people for his selfish interest.

He further announced the immediate appointment of Chief Hygenous Nwokwu as the new Secretary to the State Government adding that the new SSG would be sworn in today.

Speaking on behalf of the people, the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Hon Laz Ogbee reminded the Governor of the public outcry when the former SSG was appointed adding that they had envisaged his action having contested the  Ebonyi Central senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.

Hon Ogbee who described the former SSG as a traitor and betrayal said that his resignation was a blessing to the people of Ezza and assured the governor of the readiness of the people to ensure his reelection come 2019.

He thanked the Governor for the appointment of the former Director General of Divine Mandate Campaign organization, Chief Hygenous Nwokwu adding that his appointment has reassured the people of the clan of the interest and commitment of government towards them.

Earlier in his remark, the member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency, Hon Anayo Nwonu urged the governor not to be deterred by the action of the former SSG noting that the people of the area are not known for such action which he exhibited.

Hon Nwonu said that the action of the former SSG has propelled them to work assiduously for the success of the governor come 2019.

The people carried placards with inscription like, “We are solidly behind you, Gov Umahi, The action of Prof Odoh is tantamount to sabotage and betrayal, Prof Odoh, you are on your own, Ezza people love you, Gov Umahi, we are happy the Judas in our mist is out, No going back on your reelection come 2019, among others.

Meanwhile, leadership reliably gathered that the resignation of the former SSG may not be unconnected to his intention to contest the senatorial position of Ebonyi Central against the Senate Committee Chairman on Sports senator Obinna Ogba.
