Chairman of Bwari area council, Hon. Musa Dikko has lauded the councilor, representing Dutse ward, Joshua Ishaku for empowering 240 persons, in his ward, through the Bhotadushekwo Foundation.
Dikko, who stated this during the disbursement of about N1.2million, to the beneficiaries, noted that the gesture would go a long way in reducing security threats in his domain.
He explained that the N5, 000 empowerment fund to each of the beneficiaries was a start-off capital for small businesses, would go a long way in touching their lives.
Speaking earlier, the councilor, who is also the chief executive officer (CEO) of the foundation maintained that the project was set up to empower people of Dutse ward.
Ishaku explained that the 240 beneficiaries were carefully selected among groups of students, farmers, petty traders and youth groups, from the 19 villages in the ward.
He disclosed that the foundation would be empowering more people in the area, through its skills acquisition programme, while plans are on to start scholarship grants to students in the ward.
Some beneficiaries who spoke with LEADERSHIP expressed gratitude at the gesture as it would go a long way in reducing their challenges of getting capital for their various businesses.
One of the beneficiaries, Terfa Josephine, noted that the N5,000 would go a long way to improve her business, while Faith Amos, who also benefitted from the gesture, noted that the councillor has done something to improve the livelihood of many people.
