PDP Tackles Obaseki Over N500m Sobe Farms, Sale Of State Assets

Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday alleged that some of the projects the state claimed it is embarking on were conduits to siphon the resources of the state.
The party also alleged that some state assets such as the rubber processing plant, the Oil Palm Mill in Ekpoma, and the Ubiaja Rice Mill have been sold by the Obaseki administration.

State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, disclosed this yesterday shortly after inaugurating PDP grassroots mobilisation committee as part of the build up to the 2019 general elections.

He equally alleged that plans are underway by Obaseki to also sell the state own transport company (Edo line) and warned that the party would resist such plans.

Orbih said: “ Some of the things they came out to say they want to use to develop the state have been manipulated as drain pipe to siphon the resources of Edo State. One of such projects is the over N500million Sobe Farm project which was meant to provide employment for unemployed Edo youths.

“As I speak, no single graduate was engaged, no land to manage the original concept. What the governor did was to invite one of his Lagos boys to come and run the project. It is important for Obaseki to tell Edo people who are behind Saro Investment Limited.”
He alleged that plans have reached advanced stage to sell Edo line, adding that Obaseki must stop selling the prized assets of the state.

However in a swift reaction, the special adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on media, Cusoe Osagie yesterday described the allegations as ridiculous and a tissue of lies coming from the PDP.

He said that it has becomes ridiculous to continue to respond to cheap lies from Edo Peoples Democratic Party adding that the governor is living up to his campaign promises.
He said, “Every item mentioned in the recent address of the media by the Edo PDP, is completely false and has no foundation whatsoever.

“The Governor Godwin Obaseki administration is moving so smoothly and delivering all the promises it made to the people. The smooth sail causes the Edo PDP a great deal of unease, discomfiture and discomposure and instead of joining the moving train, they seem resolute about disrupting the process of progress by fabricating lies.”

“Psychologists often say that people do not see the world as it is, instead they see the world as they are. This is exactly the case with the Edo PDP. They see the world as they are.
