We Are Committed To Improving Lives In The Society – Onyebolise

The country director, Soccer For Peace Foundation (SFP), Ozuem Esiri Onyebolise has said that the organization is embarking on new paradigm for peace to contribute its quota to improve lives of underprivileged persons, youths, adults who from recent happenings that has resulted in conflicts and global insurgence sects are forced to live in deplorable conditions in various camps in the country.

 

Onyebolise, during an interview with LEADERSHIP, disclosed that the major focus of SFP is to raise awareness on how sport can be used to promote peace. He added that the game of football has global reach and can be played everywhere thereby bringing people together and as such, a viable tool to promote peace.

 

The director, also noted that another focus of SFP is to create social change by mobilizing youths in the grassroots to instill universal values such as mutual understanding, leadership and discipline for a better society he also commended the Deputy speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Friday Osanebi, who according to him has empowered lives of youths in his community through his foundation, Friday Osanebi Foundation, while also commending Alema of Warri kingdom, chief Emmanuel O. Uduaghan Jr. and chief Godwin Obeilum for their efforts in advocating for peace in their communities and  Delta State at large.

 

He also disclosed that, the organization has, as a way of commemorating the United Nation (UN)’s international day for sport development and peace which holds on 6th of April every year, visited the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp in Kuchigoro, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to donate relief materials, delivery kits and other items to reduce the suffering they are forced to face.

 

He added that they were set to flag off the 2018 camp to camp peace project in the North- East to empower some of the IDPs and give them basic needs, he also stressed that interactive sections and conferences that will be held in the camps are geared towards fostering peaceful coexistence among themselves and engage the youths on how to be peace ambassadors.
