A gubernatorial aspirant of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Emmanuel Bello, has described his recent purported suspension from the party as illegal.
Bello in a statement by the press secretary of his campaign organisation, Mr Umar Mustafa, said the party’s leadership was acting a script from outside the party.
He said the party national headquarters had already appointed a convener for the state to harmonise the party, advising members to channel all consultations through the convener.
Bello said it was therefore illegal for the state party secretary to avoid the steering committee put in place by national leadership of the party to announce the suspension of any party member.
“No amount of blackmail by people receiving instruction from outside the party with the sole aim of destabilising the party will deter us,” Bello said.
It would be recalled that the gubernatorial aspirants alongside 100,000 supporters defected to the party and was received by Chief Olu Falae the national chairman of the party.
Chief Bello added that his intention to salvage the state remains sacrosanct.
