KWESE BASKETBALL LEAGUE: Gombe Bulls Set Sights On Ultimate Prize



Gombe Bulls Basketball Club of Gombe has revealed that its main target in the 2018 Kwese Premier BasketballLeague campaign is to do better than last season by winning the league. The new Nigeria Basketball League(NBBF)organised Kwese Basketball Premier League season is scheduled to dunk-off on May 6, 2018.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Weekend Sports ahead of the new season, Ibrahim Sahad, the chairman of Gombe Bulls Basketball club, said the team is well motivated to do the people of Gombe proud.

He said having come second last season, the club is determined to go a step further this season by winning the ultimate prize.

“Having finished second behind Kano Pillars last season, the team is motivated to do well in the forthcoming season. Our target is to do better than last season by winning the league.

“We were all elated over the achievement of the players and technical officials and, also, the support of the fans last year. The government was delighted that the team was able do the state proud and made a lot of promises to the players and officials,” he said.

Sahad added that the state government, has left no stone unturned in a bid to achieve this, by increasing the allowances of the players and technical officials and strengthened the team.

“We have opened a new camp in preparation for the commencement of the league and, as part of moves to motivate the players and officials ahead of the new season, their allowance and remunerations were reviewed upwards.

“Two additional players were also recruited to strengthen the team in the areas we have deficiencies.”
The chairman, who was impressed with the performance of the team, both in the Kwese league and the FIBA Zone B Club Championship, commended the technical crew and the players for an outstanding performance.

“Gombe Bulls played with zeal and hunger for success, which is our strong point ahead of other clubs. The club that was in the middle of the table, turned the table around to finish in second place, deserves commendation,” he said, assuring that the club would post a better season.
