As the race for the chairmanship of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) heats up, a new entrant to the race, Chief (Dr) Inbrahim Emokpaire has joined the likes of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the incumbent, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to gun for the chairmanship seat of the party, promising to end the “seeming intractable problems” that becloud the APC.

Chief Emokpaire who stressed that he was not afraid of the big names and the moneybags within the party who are also interested in the seat, said that he is unperturbed.

The aspirant said this when he addressed newsmen at the declaration of his interest for the national chairmanship of the APC, even as he noted that he is the first to publicly declare.

He said: “I am the first to declare for the office of the national chairman among all the persons aspiring and that is on record.

“We are shifting away from money politics and President Muhammadu Buhari has already outlined what is needed. I will not be disturbed and distracted by the big names and moneybags that will be contesting.”

On the various crisis bedeviling the party and how he will check them, he said: “ My leadership will address the seeming intractable problems that becloud the horizon of our progress which are indeed traceable to the skewed priorities of some greedy and corrupt politicians.

“The good news is that the problems are man-made and not insurmountable but can be corrected sooner than later on my assumption of the mantle of leadership.”
