Africa’s foremost entrepreneur, Aliko Dangote, has acquired the Katsina State owned Dutsin-ma Songhai Initiative as his first international research institute.
The director general, Katsina Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Mu’azzam Abdullahi, made the disclosure in a statement yesterday, following last Thursday’s special visit of Dangote to Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari in Katsina.
He said, “The hitherto comatose facility will be maximally utilised as the business mogul intends to inject N500 million this year, take over the staff, recruit additional staff and commence planting of tomato in preparation for the would-be Dangote world largest tomato production and processing plant.”
Abdullahi explained that the Dutsin-ma Songhai Initiative would be converted to serve as an institute on a lease basis, adding that the investment is part of the numerous dividends of national economic significance arising from the special visit of the chief executive officer of Dangote group of companies.
