The Acting Executive Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr. Shettima Bukar Abba,has said no ethnic groups will predominance the recruitment of Nigerian Police Force (NPF) ongoing across the country, assured of fairness
Dr. Abba, who stated this in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday in Abuja. Said, “There is need for Nigeria police force to respect the federal character principle in recruitments as that fostered national unity.”
According to him, the best and most competent person shall be recruited from each state of the federation to fill positions reserved for the indigenes of the state.
He also said, “The principle of federal character is to give everyone a sense of belonging, i will assured that the recruitment and appointment across the federal government agencies in Nigeria are fair.
“The Federal Character Commission is mandated to work out an equitable formula, subject to the approval of the president, for the distribution of all cadres of posts in the civil and public service of the federation and of the state, the armed forces, the Nigerian Police Force, and other security agencies, bodies corporate owned by the federal or a state government and extra-ministerial departments and parastatals of the federation and State,” he said.
