Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has lauded the management of Yola DisCo, for increase in revenue generation of the company by about 200 per cent.
He made the commendation in Yola, in his remarks at the 27th power sector meeting held in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
“The story of Yola DisCo epitomizes change and it speaks eloquently to our role of incremental power.
“It has held its own against the odd and in some cases, even surpasses expectations in revenue collections and service delivery”,he said.
Earlier, Engr Mustafa Umara, MD Yola DisCo, said the company recorded 80 per cent success in rehabilitating its 33kv, 11kv and other infrastructures vandalized by insurgents with the support of the ministry of power.
Mustpaha said construction of sub-stations and new lines by government had enhanced electricity supply and reduced technical losses in the company.
“ We have connected Damasak in Borno State and we are getting in touch with Niger Republic so that we can connect them.
“We have recorded a boost in our revenue generation by about 200 per cent, saying inadequate staff is the major challenge of the company.
The minister, charged DisCos nationwide to brace up to the challenges of the rainy season occasioned with storm and thunder.
