A presidential hopeful, Mr Iheanacho Ezeakor has called on the federal government to resolve the crises between it and the health workers which has paralysed all the federal hospitals and caused avoidable deaths.
The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), had midnight of Tuesday, April 17, 2018, commenced strike action with many avoidable deaths in the country being recorded and many innocent persons maimed for life. The striking health workers comprise about 90 per cent of the total health workforce.
In a statement he issued, the presidential hopeful, Mr Iheanachor Ezeakor said for the interest of the poor masses who can’t afford the services of private hospitals, said the federal government should reach a compromise with the health workers.
“The federal government should reach a compromise with the health workers because Nigerians are dying. For the interest of this country and the poor masses, the federal government should ensure that this strike is called off and the health sector should be reform,” Ezeakor said.
He said if elected president, he won’t allow strike especially in critical sectors of the economy.
“The health sector is very important and attention must be given to it. There is no way health workers should be allow to go on strike when many people are dying for lack of health services,” he said.
He called on the youth to prepare themselves for leadership position adding that the days are gone where there was a believe that Nigerian youths are not capable.
