Niger Govt To Release N50m FADAMA III AF Counterpart Fund

Niger  state government has disclosed that it will release its counterpart funds of over N50m for Fadama III project in the state to boost agricultural value chain initiative.

The is coming on the heel of the  review of implementation of various projects embarked upon in the state under the Fadama programme .

  The Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Haruna Nuhu Dukku represented by  Commissioner of Livestock and Fisheries, Zakari Bawa Bala made the readiness of the government known when  the implementation support mission team  of the Third National Fadama Development Project Additional Financing, AF came to Niger State and paid him a courtesy visit in his ministry.

While applauding the support and activities of the Fadama III AF in the state, he reiterated the commitment of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s government to give all necessary support and assistance to all agricultural value chain programmes to ensure success and benefit to the people .

Consequently, the Commissioner stated that the government would as a matter of urgency release the outstanding counterpart funds, that have being put at N50m by the programme officers

The Team Leader, Prof. Olubunmi Abayomi Omotesho in his remarks enumerated some of objectives of the team in Niger state which includes; review of all the projects implementation Programme of Additional Finance AF Fadama III and assess  the achievements of  2017/18 project work and work plans for the 2018/19.

According to him,it involves direct contact with  the projects’ beneficiaries on sites to get their views and opinions for evaluation as well as dialogue with government officials and provide implementation support for the programme.

He commended the Niger state government for  providing six tractors and rice threshers for the sustainability of the scheme  and called  for payment of the counterpart funds regularly.
