The Arewa Youths Forum (AYF), has charged youths across the country to take full advantage of the Not Too YoungTo Run law, recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari by forging a united front to contest various positions in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking in a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP Sunday,President of AYF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, said the signing of the bill into law should not be a mere rhetoric stressing that it must be put into practice.
Shettima, while commending the civil society organizations and other stakeholders for pushing for the law, said it is high time the Nigerian youths take charge of their destiny.
He added that this forum has not decided on whether to back a young person to run for the presidency or other elective positions in the 2019 polls.
“We commend all stakeholders for standing firm and pushing for the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Bill and its signing into law by Mr President but the law must be put into practice not just rhetoric,” Shettima said.
