Nominee for the chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and one time minister of state for Finance, Engr Elias Mbam, has disowned a fake Facebook account created by some unscrupulous elements.
The fictitious Facebook account bears his official portrait and correct profile which are already in the public domain given his public service records.
In a press statement personally signed by Mr Mbam and issued to the press, he disclosed that out of sheer goodwill, the account has clocked about 130 friends from his numerous friends, relations, close associates and well wishers.
The RMAFC chairman nominee emphasised that he does not own any Facebook account or operated one now or before.
According to him, he wasn’t even aware of the existence of the fake account until some of his friends and associates drew his attention to it.
“Apparently, this account must have been opened solely for criminal purposes including the defamation of my character and extortion of money and other fraudulent activities”.
He therefore enjoined friends, relations and well wishers as well as the general public to disregard the fake account which he has nothing to do with.
“In other words, all those named as friends should as a matter of urgency unfriend/block this fraudster who impersonates me for personal aggrandizement.”
