We’re Not Illegal Tertiary Institution, Kaduna Business School Tells NUC

The Kaduna Business School (KBS),yesterday, told National Universities Commission (NUC) that it is not operating an illegal tertiary institution, explaining that it is licenced by the federal ministry of education under the supervision of the National Board for Technical Education(NBTE) as an innovation enterprise institution.

In a terse statement issued by Dr. Dahiru Sani, Rector, Kaduna Business School, said they are concerned that the commission unfairly lumped KBS together with other institutions for convenience in order to dent an outstanding school with impeccable accreditation credentials and well recognized nationally and in global academic circles as a reputable citadel of excellence.

Recall that the NUC recently named Kaduna Business School among illegal tertiary institutions operating in the country.

However, the KBS’s statement said, the NUC should provide the parameters it used for rating the school even when the NBTE that accredited the school did not ask the NUC to take over its oversight responsibility.

According to the statement, the NUC must tender an unreserved apology to Kaduna Business School and publish  in all the media organizations that used its release within two weeks.

The statement reads:”Our notice has been drawn to the list of illegal tertiary institutions released by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in which Kaduna Business School (KBS) was purportedly mentioned. We would like to believe that its inclusion in the publication was an error based on wrong information or total ignorance about the school rather than a deliberate misinformation designed to mislead the public and malign the hard-earned reputation that we painstakingly nurtured.”

“Whatever the motivation for labeling the school “illegal”, it is inexcusable for a national regulatory agency of the standing of NUC to rush to conclusion and make very questionable judgment on an issue of such great importance without empirical research, verifiable facts or authenticated proof in an exercise that clearly lacks intellectual depth.”
