Medicaid Cancer Foundation Sponsors First Ambassador To Russia 2018



Towards spreading the awareness of cancer globally, Medicaid cancer Foundation is sponsoring its first Nigerian cancer ambassador, Isaac Femi to Russia 2018 through a challenge tagged MCF2RUSSIA.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO), Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Dr. Suraiya Mansur while presenting gift items to three finalists yesterday in Abuja, said that it was no longer news that Cancer has become huge burden on our nation Nigeria, stressing that the epidemic is fast ravaging and killing thousands of people yearly.

According to Mansur, Medicaid Cancer Foundation identified football as a uniting language to fight against cancer, saying the foundation has created awareness and raised funds using football since 2017.

She said: “The awareness continues this year using one of the most prestigious stage of the world- the FIFA World Cup. The Foundation had produced and sponsored the first Nigerian cancer ambassador to Russia 2018 via a challenged tagged MCF2RUSSIA.

“The #MCF2RUSSIACOMPETITION thus started from the 14th-27th of May 2018 with over 23, 682 views. The MCF2Russia took two stages: The first stage was simply to upload a 1min video of competitor singing the Nigerian National anthem on social media pages. Three favourites emerged. They were — Hauwa Karma, Isaac Femi and Mercy Inem”.

The COO disclosed that the program has the support of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), NPFLM as well as current and retired football legends.

Stating further, Mansur said the winner was picked by two judges, Professor Sani Mallami, President of the Nigerian Cancer Society and Mr. Ayo Olu Inidapo, media strategist of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

It was learnt that Isaac Femi, a 23 year old media analyst from Lagos eventually clinched the trip after each top three finalist gave account of how best they would increase cancer awareness in Russia whilst supporting the Super Eagles.
