A season technocrat and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nnanna Ibemgbo, has described the award of GCFR to the late Chief MKO Abiola as a masterstroke by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Abuja, yesterday, Ibemgbo said President Buhari ‘s courageous and rightful decision has corrected the wrongs of the past.
According to him, June 12, more than any other day, symbolises the struggles and sacrifices made by countless Nigerians to establish democracy as our way of national governance.
“Those who were not born before June 12, 1993, may not know what it stands for.
“The historic day was the day Nigerians from the East, West, North and South rose in one voice, in amity, in unity, in one accord to elect Chief MKO Abiola as the president of Nigeria,”Ibemgbo said.
He further described the ward as timely and appropriate, adding that it shows President Buhari’s love for the country, as well as efforts to foster greater unity among different ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.
