Kebbi state government has purchased four brand new JMT jeeps for the four emirs of the state.
The vehicles were handed over to the emirs by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu when they paid him sallah homage on Saturday at the government house in Birnin Kebbi.
The emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar who is the Chairman, Kebbi State council of chiefs thanked the governor for his gesture.
He said the emirs of the state have been using old vehicles given to them by the government for several years,pointing out that the new vehicles will go a long way in facilitating their movement and work to the society.
“Today, the Kebbi state government announced gift of new vehicles to all the four emirs. We are very grateful to the governor because we have been using old vehicles for several years” ,he said.
He commended the governor for his giant strides in developing various sectors of the state and appealed to people of the state to continue to leave in peace and harmony with other tribes in the state as well as support the state government.
The royal father also lamented the increasing trend of street begging by young children in the state as well as distortion of marriage ceremonies in Hausa land to flamboyant marriage ceremonies which he said was inimical to Islamic norms and Hausa tradition.
Bashar used the occasion to appeal to people to go to INEC and collect their cards as the period for election draws closer in order to elect credible leaders .
