Stop Unnecessary Trips, Emir Tells Zamfara Gov

The chairman of Zamfara  State Council  of Chiefs, and Emir of Zamfaran Anka,  Alhaji  Attahiru Ahmad  has urged Governor  Abdul-Aziz  Yari  to stop  unnecessary  trips out of the state as a way of containing banditry in the  state.

Speaking  in his palace at Anka,  while receiving  Governor  Yari on Sallah visit, the monarch  said such frequent trips  by the governor  were quite  unnecessary  as the state was engulfed in insurgency.

According to him, Zamfara State is the constituency of the governor and he ought to stay within his domain  to perform  his constitutional  role as governor.

“Yes,  we know  you’re  chairman of the Nigerian Governors  Forum,  but note that,  your are elected  by the electorate of Zamfara  not people  of Kano,  Kaduna,  Enugu  or any other state “, he added.

The monarch observed that the frequent trips of the governor  had negative  effects  on the people  of the  state,  especially,  the massive  killings in villages  and towns  of the state.

He stated that the presence of the governor in the state would help greatly  in effective monitoring and assessment  of the security  situation in the state.

The monarch however, said the government had to take strong measures to end the killings, or people would adopt self defence by getting guns to fight back.

In his response, Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari expressed sympathy with the people of Anka emirate over the incessant attacks resulting to the death of many people.

He promised to collaborate with the federal government to end the killings.
