APC Convention: Zamfara Delegates Protest, Threaten Legal Action

Some delagates from Zamfara State believed to  belong to Senator Kabir Marafa faction, who were barred during convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have threatened to take legal action against the party.

The delegates were on Saturday, stopped by security personnel from entering the Eagle Square, venue for the convention.

LEADERSHIP gathered yesterday that the factional delegates were prevented entry because they wore T- shirts with Senator Kabir Garba Marafa pictures and inscriptions.

Speaking to newsmen, the state publicity secretary of the senator Kabir Garba Marafa faction of the APC in Zamfara State, Muhammad Bello Bakyasuwa said they would institute lawful action against what they described as inpunitive act.

He said: “We belong to the legitimate APC faction in Zamfara State. The APC faction under the State Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako Gusau. We were elected in the parallel APC state congresses of 5th, 12th and 19th May 2018 in Zamfara State.”

According to Bakyasuwa, they were in Abuja to express their happiness, support and solidarity with their party over the national convention holding to produce new national leaders.

“We were here with all our delegates and over one thousand supporters but we have been denied entry into the Eagle Square. So, we hereby appeal to our new national party leaders to be fair and recognize our faction as the legitimate APC leadership in Zamfare State.
