Another set of 17 unidentified corpses have been recovered at Boko forest in Zurmi local government area raising the number of the deaths to 40.
A source who gave his name as Abdullahi Moriki, revealed that some bodies were cited floating in the nearby Moriki River.
Moriki ,however said that, majority of those killed were teenagers of 16 years and below.
According to thWe source, relations of the dead converged on the palace of the Emir of Zurmi to protest the killings, claiming that they were innocently killed.
According to Moriki, there was contradicting reports regarding the killings, as many claimed that the victims were not bandits but Fulani folks returning home from grazing.
He said luck ran against them as they were confronted by vigilante group who slitted their throats.
“It is really confusing as the victims who were not armed and most of them teenagers between the age of 16 and below were not shot with guns but rather knives were used to slit their throats “, he added.
The source further said the victim’s animals were said to have been shared by members of the vigilante group.
LEADERSHIP reports that the dead bodies were buried amidst tears in Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi local government area.
It was gathered that governor Abdulaziz Yari had summoned the Emir, council chairman and security agents for an emergency meeting in Mafara.
