The Garba Diuof Foundation has donated food items to the less privileged in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
Some of the items distributed included 300 bags of rice, 200 cartons of Macaroni and 160 gallons of palm oil, amongst others.
Speaking on the reasons for the intervention, the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Garba Diuof Streessd that the insurgency that impoverished the people of Borno State created several widows, orphans and IDP’s with the need of rehabilitation and source of livelihood.
He explained that “Life is more meaningful when succour is provided to the less privileged. We are totally committed to improving the life of the down trodden.”
He explained that the foundation, which has been in existence for a decade, awards scholarships to students and youth.
“We also award scholarship to students, as well as paying of WAEC and NECO exams fees. Widows, widowers, physically challenged people are also touched by our charity,” he explained.
The founder added that the foundation, with its head office in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, also in its bid at ensuring self reliance, provides take off capital to young entrepreneurs.
“In our quest at ensuring food security as well as empowering of farmers, we provide fertiliser and chemicals to those in rural areas to boost food production.
“The foundation is bent on putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged and would do anything within available resources in doing so, “ he emphasized.
He informed that this Ramadan Charity, in Lagos about 200 people benefitted at the presentation held in Agege, while about 500 people benefited from the foundation in Borno State.
The District Head of Hawul Local Government Area, Alhaji Maina Usman Aliyu, in his remarks, said that he was honoured to witness the event, which he described as historical.
“This is the first time I have ever witnessed such a gesture in my LGA. I pray to God to continue to help and guide the founder of this foundation, in person of Alhaji Garba Diouf.
“He is young but has something good for our community. I urge the rich people to emulate Garba Diuof Foundation in order to reduce the level of poverty in our society, “ he added.
