100,000 Benue IDPs Return Home – Army

Acting director, Defence Information, Brig Gen John Agim has disclosed that With the reduction in the frequency of attacks in Benue state,100,000 lDPs across the affected local governments of the state have already returned  to their homes even as he debunked the claim by MACBAN that troops killed six of their members alongside 150 cows.

General Agim who made this known during a media briefing at the Tactical Air command headquarters in Makurdi also averred that two personnel of the Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) were attacked and  killed by the herdsmen in Nasarawa state while five others were injured including the  commanding officers who led the operation.

According to Agim, following the attack and  killings of the soldiers, some troops of OPWS were mobilized for reinforcement.

“I want to tell you that in the said allegation, the chairman, Mohammed Hussein said that OPWS killed 6 herdsmen and l50 cows. I wish to make it abundantly clear that the Special Forces troops of OPWS did not kill any herdsman or cows as claimed by the MACBAN chairman in Lana. The information is completely false and unfounded”.
