R-APC Formation Worries Gov Yari

Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, yesterday, expressed worry over the formation of an All Progressives Congress (APC) splinter group known as Reformed APC.

Yari said as a stakeholder and founding member of the ruling APC, he was disturbed by the development but expressed optimism that the new party leadership would be able to resolve the dispute amicable.

According to him, for a party with overwhelming majority as the APC, such upheavals were not unprecedented, especially in an election year.

He spoke to State House correspondents yesterday after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, along with his counterparts from Jigawa and Kebbi states, Abubakar Badaru and Atiku Bagudu respectively.

He said, “Of course I am worried but it is something the party will handle. You know with the approach of election, you will expect this kind of thing, you will expect crisis left, right and centre, especially in a party with an overwhelming majority because of political interest.

“The most important thing is that with the emergence of new leadership everything will be resolved.”

LEADERSHIP Friday recalls that on Wednesday a splinter group with the name, Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) broke away from the APC.
