The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari had constituted the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee.
With the committee, the annual durbar festival would henceforth be held on the second day of Eid-el-Kabir festivities at the frontage of the Emir’s Palace.
At the inauguration ceremony in Ilorin, the traditional ruler said the committee was set up to enhance the annual festival and increase participation of Ilorin indigenes.
Sulu- Gambari, who spoke through the Chairman of the committee, Engineer Suleiman Alapansanpa, said the rationale behind constituting the committee was to project, preserve and sustain the culture and tradition of Ilorin emirate.

The traditional ruler listed the Durbar Committee members to include Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa (chairman), the Director Centre for Ilorin Studies, University of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim AJawondo (secretary), Justice Idrees Haroon and Justice Solihu Muhammad.
Also inaugurated alongside the main committee of the ceremony were sub-committees.
