Concerned over the recent killing of six policemen by an armed gang, the House of Representatives on Tuesday, resolved to invite the FCT commissioner of Police, Mr. Sadiq Bello to brief it on the incidence. This is as it resolved to set up an ad hoc committee to look into the rising cases of insecurity in the country occasioned by killings and kidnappings all over the federation and proffer solutions. The resolution is consequent upon a motion sponsored by Hon. Chris Azubuogu on the urgent national security attention on the killing of seven policemen man and others by unknown gunmen in Galadimawa area of Abuja amongst other killings in the country.Leading the debate, Azubuogu recalled that on July 2, 2018, policemen attached to the FCT Police command on duty at Galadimawa area of Abuja were attacked at their duty post by unnamed gunmen who came on six motor bikes.
He expressed dismay that the attack is coming too close after the killings in Plateau state and others in the country, which have been reported in the immediate past to which government is confronting internally and doing everything possible to contain the fallout in terms of national security concerns and image management of the country in the international environment. The lawmaker noted that these killings call to question the internal security management of securing the lives and property of citizens by government as provided in the constitution of the country.
