The vice president, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Mr. Johnson Anene, has said the 2018 Abuja investment expo scheduled later this month would help in addressing difficulty in land acquisition and titles. He made the call during a press briefing yesterday in Abuja.
According to him, the 2018 expo which is themed: “Land Development: A Catalyst for Economic Advancement,” was conceptualised due to the importance of shelter and its deficiency for the Nigerian populace.
“We want to use this expo to address these issues because it is intended to project the provision of quality affordable houses to the people. We also want to use it to canvas for the production of local building materials, which will contribute to reducing the cost of building. Equally, we would use this to address the issue of difficulty in accessing land and registering land titles,” he said.
Anene further elaborated that the expo would seek to address the issue of mortgage financing and provision of funding for construction, adding that if the cost of funds for construction was high, it would add to the cost of delivery and in the long run, the final cost to the consumers.
He said already, 120 exhibitors and 3,500 participants were expected with a lot of investors both international and domestic, while embassies like Turkey, China, Cuba, Ukraine and India had also indicated interest to attend the event.
