Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris, son of the former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, is set to contest for the 2019 governorship race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the President of Kogi West Youth Alliance (KWYA), Abu Sadiq and Secretary, Com. Femi Temitope, while addressing journalists at the party secretariat yesterday, the group paid for the intent form because of the confidence it reposes on Alhaji Abubakar Idris in taking the state to the next level of development.
KWYA described the philanthropic gestures of Alh Abubakar following his impact in offsetting school fees, medical and accommodation bills of indigent youths in the state as what informed their action.
The group added that the pedigree of the father of Alhaji Abubakar Idris, whose tenure as governor made the desired impact in the state, also formed part of reasons why the group resolved to throw its weight behind him and the intent form fund. While noting that the experience gathered by Alh Abubakar Idris during the tenure of his father would greatly move the state from its present state, the group noted that he has shown vigour, enterprise and veracity in government business which puts him on edge.
According to him, his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris while he was governor of Kogi State brought massive development across the state, stating that Abubakar Ibrahim Idris will definitely do more if given the chance to contest for the governorship race in the state.
“He is very humble, gentle and resourceful. He can do it and I hope the people of Kogi State will support him, “ pointing out that in Nigerian Constitution today there is nowhere it was stated that the son of a former governor should not contest for governorship election in the country.
According to him, his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris while he was governor of Kogi State brought massive development across the state, stressing that Abubakar Idris will definitely replicate and even do more, if given the chance to contest for the governorship race in the state.
