A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pioneer national chairman APC North East, Alhaji Umar Duhu has debunked allegations by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir David Lawal that the Adamawa State governor, Sen. Jibrilla Bindow has been lopsided in his appointments.
Speaking with journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, Duhu described the claims as baseless and without facts, adding that it was an attempt to tarnish the reputation of Governor Bindow.
He stressed that all the Principal Aides on Media to the governor are Christians and challenged the former SGF to come out with sufficient facts to prove his allegations.
“Nobody in Adamawa State will accuse Governor Bindow of lopsided appointments. I know him very well as a brother, from a very young age I knew his antecedents,” he said, adding that it was unfair for anyone to accuse him of appointing a particular faith into his cabinet and leaving the other.
“Babachir was just playing the ostrich, he was appointed as the SGF not because he was the most competent Christian from the northern part of Nigeria. He was only appointed maybe because he is closest to His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Let him come out and tell us as the former SGF, how many people he has appointed or he influenced their appointments as either citizens of Adamawa State or citizens of Nigeria into the government of President Muhammadu Buhari”, he noted.
“If we should go by the records; for instance, if you go to Jada local government, the two commissioners from there, are Christians and they are both occupying very sensitive positions in the government of Jibrilla Bindow, but because Bindow appointed a Muslim to cover the other section of the community, they are finding fault in that.
If you go to Toungo and Ganye LGA, the commissioners there are also Christians. Lillian, the commissioner from Ganye is a Christian and she occupy a very sensitive position as the commissioner of Works. If you go and see the quantum of work that is being done in Adamawa State, 90 per cent of the development in infrastructure is attributed to the Ministry of Works, not to talk of the deputy governor who is also a Christian.”
