Ooni, Seriake Dickson Task FG On Restructuring, Peace

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson have stressed the need to ensure that there is peace and unity in the country for all round development to take place.
The duo spoke  in Ile-Ife when the governor paid a courtesy call on the monarch at his palace before proceeding to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he delivered a lecture titled: “Restructuring and the Search for Productive Nigeria.”
Oba Adeyeye called on Nigerian leaders to make quality leadership, peace and unity of the country their watchwords and priorities in the discharge of their duties at all levels.
The monarch who expressed satisfaction with the performance of Dickson in government noting that when God fearing person is in the saddle of governance, the people experience positive transformations that brings joy.
Earlier, the governor had commended the traditional ruler for expanding the frontier of culture and championing unity in Yorubaland and Nigeria in general.
Delivering his lecture entitled: “Restructuring and the Search for Productive Nigeria.” organized by the Faculty of Arts of the institution, Governor Dickson disagreed with the reported statement of President Muhammadu Buhari that those clamouring for restructuring were doing so for personal gain.
He rather called on the president to lead the restructuring vanguard so that his name may be written in gold because it is a task that would be accomplished now or in the near future.
He posited that true federalism anchored on restructuring would make governance more convenient for a complete national identity and a sense of belonging by the citizenry through which they could access the dividends of democracy.
He noted that Nigeria was not working because she has not been restructured, insisting that until she was restructured, the change being clamoured for and desired development that is supposed to be witnessed in every nook and cranny of the country would remain a mere dream.
Harping on how to go about the exercise, Dickson recommended that the President convene a meeting of representatives of the Federal government, the leadership of National Assembly, the governor’s forum, and Speakers of the various State Houses of Assembly that have the role of making amendment to the constitution and other stakeholders.
This gathering according to the governor should brainstorm using various recommendations as stepping guide and come up with positions and common grounds for restructuring.
The governor urged the citizenry, particularly the youth to be creative and contribute great ideas that can enhance nation building and make it great.
He stressed that Nigeria was a work in progress and needed everybody’s contribution to grow to the next level.
