No fewer than 20 medical doctors are said to have left the services of Zamfara State government between January and June, this year, in search of better job opportunities.
The medical director in-charge of the state owned Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, Dr Bello Mohammed, made this known at a press briefing in Gusau.
He said that all the affected doctors were serving at the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, but left to where they believed they would enjoy more training to better their professionalism, experience and performance even through residence training.
According to him, “since the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital had now been fully accredited by the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council,” it is now set to commence the training of fresh graduates of medicine and surgery.
He appealed to the state government to support the facility so that it would start residency programme, which would in turn, check the brain drain situation being faced by the state.
