Leadership Nigeria News Today

African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) is set to mark its 10th Year Anniversary in Abuja, using the occasion to provide a platform for Africa women to network, brainstorm and initiate a movement for their development.

The event which is to hold between July 19- 21st, 2018, at the Shehu Musa Yar’ Adua Center, Abuja Nigeria, with the theme “Creating Transgenerational Impact through Innovative Leadership”, will honour Chief Jewel-Howard Taylor, Vice President of Liberia as the keynote speaker and the chief host is Mrs Aisha Buhari, Wife of the President of Nigeria.

The was disclosed in a statement yesterday in Abuja signed by founder of the AWLO, Dr Elisha Attai, who said the conference will give Africa women the opportunity to improve themselves, creating opportunities for themselves as well as working together and creating solutions for Africa.

The body noted that the conference converges women of African descent for leadership development and also provide women a platform to network and  brainstorm for personal development.

“It is also a movement of African Women’s relevance, Women teaming up, forming a force, in one voice, and initiating a movement. They are improving themselves and creating opportunities for themselves. Working together and creating solutions for Africa.

“In a patriarchal society where women leaders are emerging. AWLO seeks to fan the flames of budding leaders. AWLO is identifying opportunities for women in leadership; removing barriers, challenging women, and channeling their leadership potential. We hope for women to ‘own a seat at the table.

“Women in Leadership’ is still untapped because it is reserved for a few women who are in leadership positions. For us leading is an attitude, and we want more women to imbibe it.”
