Leadership Nigeria News Today

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has commenced sensitisation campaign of the original inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on how to achieve seamless resettlement exercise for the indigenes.

At the weekend, officials of the FCDA met with heads of Apo, Akpmajenya and Garki villages, at the palace of the Sa’peyi of Garki, on the planned relocation of the original inhabitants of Garki village, to Apo Resettlement.

The director, department of resettlement and compensation (FCDA), Baba-Kura Umar, who led the delegation, told the meeting that the sensitisation was aimed at ensuring seamless relocation exercise for the indigenes.

Umar disclosed that the administration has since commenced issuance of letters of intent to the original inhabitants of Garki, adding that the document is not transferable.

Responding, the Sa’peyi of Garki, Alhaji Usman Nga-Kupi, noted that the title document being given to them are for their children, just as he advised them against trading on the document and to avoid being shut out of ongoing relocation scheme.

“Don’t sell your papers, because it will amount to selling your children’s future, as community leaders will not intervene in anyway. Those who have gotten their letters of intent should protect it jealously, to prevent losing and damaging them.”

Nga-Kupi also expressed satisfaction with the resettlement plan and thanked stakeholders for their cooperation in the process.
