The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected Danielson Bamidele as the new President to oversee the activities of the organisation for the next one year.
Bamidele, who is from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi was elected the 32nd President of the apex students’ body in Nigeria. He was declared winner, having polled a total number of 104 votes, at the end of the NANS Convention held in Abuja recently.
While responding to questions from journalists he assured that his administration would usher in new ideologies to reposition and restructure the students’ body. He also noted that the menace of cultism in campuses is a major issue that the new NANS leadership would tackle.
He said, “There are plans under way to partner with relevant organisations to launch anti-cultism campaign which will be taken to the grassroots”.
Meanwhile, the immediate past president of NANS, Chinonso Obasi, said the new executive would unite all the factions within the students’ body.
Obasi said, “There is no faction, the issue of faction was killed when we had unity convention.”
