Players of the Nigeria U17 team who are in camp preparing for the African Youth Championship Qualifiers will in the coming days undergo the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging popularly referred to as the MRI test.

The test is usually done to ascertain if the players are within the age limit for the cadet championship to curb the menace of age cheat, which has bedevilled the tournament in the past.

Last time out Nigeria were worst hit by the scan with almost the entire starting line up failing the test, which took place three days to the first leg of their qualifiers against Niger Republic.

This time around the test will be done earlier as the qualification format has been changed from the home and away system to a tournament style with Nigeria set to play in the WAFU B region.

A total of 40 players will undergo the test as against the 60 earlier proposed by the handlers of the team, meaning 20 out of the players currently in the camp of the team won’t be in the list for the test.
