Zamfara Herdsmen Cry Out Over Extra-Judicial Killings

The Fulani herdsmen in Zamfara State have cried out over the alleged extra judicial killings of innocent fulani herdsmen by outlawed members of the vigilante group, popularly known as Yan”sakai in markets and other gathering centres across tne state.

    Speaking to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, one Abdullahi Ardo said members of the outlawed Yan’sakai have engaged in serial killings of innocent fulani herdsmen without cause.

According to him, so far 21 fulani settlers were reported to have been killed in at Dangulbi market day.

He alleged that members of the Yan’sakai group under the chairmanship of Labaran Kango Garacci village had engaged in terrorising innocent Fulani settlers in some part of state.

He said, the outlawed groups were roaming freely with dangerous weapons searching for Fulani people on every market day and other places of gathering irrespective of their innocent.

“Just within the last two months, the Yan’sakai group in the area have been operating their illegal acts by prosecuting innocent Fulani settlers in the area without stopping them by the security agencies”, he stated.

He appealed to Zamfara and federal government to halt the activities  Yan’sakai group in the area in order save Fulanis from extra judicial killings.

When contacted, the police public relations officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, said already the command had directed Divisional Police Officers across the state to keep vigil at every market day in their domain to ensure the protection of lives and property of the citizens.

He denied the allegations by the concerned Fulani people in Dangulbi area, saying there was nothing of that nature in the area.
