NPC Seeks Nigerians’ Support On Demographic, Health Survey

National Population Commission (NPC), has called on Nigerians to support and understand with the commission to ensure the successful conduct of 2018 Demographic and Health Survey (DHS).

The chairman, NPC, Dr Eze Duruiheoma SAS, who was represented by the chairman, planning and research committee of the survey, Benedict Ukpong, a federal commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State, made the call at the training workshop for fieldwork functionaries for the 2018 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), in Kaduna.

He said, “I appeal to all Nigerians to cooperate with the interviewers to ensure the successful conduct of the survey nationwide.

He explained that the survey will provide up to date information and reliable estimates of fertility levels and preferences, awareness and use of family planning methods, breastfeeding practices, nutritional status of mothers and young children, early childhood mortality and maternal.

According to him, the 2018 NDHS will provide estimates of anaemia prevalence among children of ages 6-59 months and adults, as well as estimates of malaria prevalence among children of ages 6-59 months.
