….Saying defectors can’t deliver their polling units
Following the mass exodus of some party members from APC to PDP today, both in upper and lower legislative chamber of the national Assembly level, has generated worries across the political divide.
Benue State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the drama that hits the party Tuesday, as the defection of 15 senators and 35 members of the House of Representatives on its platform was made know to the public.
Speaking on the matter in Makurdi, the Benue state capital,Tuesday, July 24, 2018,Comrade Abba Yaro, State chairman of APC told journalists that, without much narratives, their mass exodus is a welcome development as the ruling party is relieved of their detestable deficiencies and anti-party activities dragging the APC backward.
According to him,’ most of the senators and members of the House of Reps that defected from the APC to other parties are not only ungrateful but deceptive, stressing that the decampees foresaw their irrelevance in the party and have been pushed away by divinity to pave the way for men and women of honour that would embrace the people-oriented manifestoes of the ruling APC.’
Yaro stated however that ,’the greatest problem in the Nigerian politics is that party affiliation is not based on principles or ideology but on conspiracy by few persons to capture power for individual enrichment, adding that the decampees are fortune seekers who never provided their constituents the impact of good governance.’
Declaring that the APC will win these decampees in their homes and polling units if election is held today. He said that it is only when President Muhammadu Buhari’s and the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s defection from the party that it would suffer setback.
In a similar view, the Benue state APC Director of Publicity, Comrade Apeh Peterhot who posted on his Facebook page, urges every member of the party to remain steadfast and focus on strategies that would give the APC a resounding victory in the 2019 general elections.
He noted that there would always be defections and realignment during every electioneering year, reminds members, supporters and fans of the party to remain steadfast in their faith in the APC, maintaining that APC has survive such opposition in 2014/2015 before clinching to power .
However, today, it was gathered that PDP is now the majority in both Senate chamber and House of Representative.
