Managing director/chief executive of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Arc Ahmed Dangiwa has disclosed that the bank is currently processing about N620 million home renovation loans for disbursement to men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
He stated this when he received officers of FRSC led by its Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi at the bank’s headquarters in Abuja. Dangiwa eulogised the efforts of Boboye in facilitating the welfare of its staff adding that the bank would not relent in its efforts towards providing affordable shelter for Nigerian workers.
He pointed out that about 202 beneficiaries from FRSC have received N1.25bn through the bank’s National Housing Fund (NHF) scheme. The MD hinted that the bank has so far disbursed over N1billion to officers and men of FRSC which has the highest number of contributors to NHF scheme.
On his part, the corps marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi noted that the essence of the visit was to strengthen the existing relationship and collaboration towards the provision of housing for the corps. He lamented that acquisition of affordable housing has been a major challenge for civil servants even as he harped on the need for the bank to extend its services to the lowest cadre of the corps.
While encouraging young officers to embrace the NHF scheme which he described as an asset, he was hopeful that the entire officers would become home owners during his regime.
According to him, “When I came on board, we had a workforce of 21, 000 and I said that each of them will own a house, thereafter, I visited the FMBN and the former managing director gave us a platform that all the existing projects of FMBN nationwide will key into it and today, it is a success story”. The FMBN however appointed Boboye as its ambassador for his efforts towards promoting the scheme.
