Kebbi Police Smash Car Theft Syndicate

The Kebbi State Police command has succeeded in smashing and arresting a car theft syndicate operating to steal cars in the state. Police say the suspects usually come from Ilorin in Kwara State to steal vehicles in Kebbi State.

  The suspect, Peter James who is a Ghanaian national was arrested in Birnin Kebbi while trying to escape with a Toyota Camry car he allegedly stole from where it was parked.

Parading the suspect and other criminals before newsmen  at the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, commissioner of police, Kabiru Ibrahim said the suspect has been operating by stealing cars and escape with them to go and sell before he was arrested.

“Luckily for the police, the suspect was arrested by our men.

The car thief was arrested and prosecuted by the police for stealing a car but he was released by the Court and he returned to the state few weeks after to steal another car.

  The suspect while answering questions from journalists insisted he did not steal the car but bought it for the sum of N800,000 from someone.

  The Commissioner of Police said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of investigations on the matter.
