FG Reiterates Commitment To Socio-economic Growth In Dumbulum Community



The federal government has reiterated its commitment towards the socio-economic growth of Dumbulum community in a bid to achieve accelerated nation building.

The minister of state for health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this yesterday, at the commissioning and handing over of the erosion and flood control works in Dumbulum, Tsanyawa local government area, Kano State, executed by the Ecological Fund Office (EFO).

He noted that the project is one of the 27 ecological intervention projects approved by president Muhammadu Buhari for the second quarter of 2017 and was awarded to Messers UYK Nigeria limited on the 1st of June, 2017.

Ehanire hinted that the project would mitigate the dangers, losses and damages associated with soil erosion and seasonal flooding, which have plagued the community for decades.

The minister expressed optimism that the successful completion of the project would guarantee the safety and wellbeing of citizens of the surrounding communities.

In her address, the permanent secretary of Ecological Fund Office (EFO), Dr Habiba Lawal, emphasised that the goal of the project is to restore the environment and socio-economic activities in the affected communities.

The perm sec, who was represented by EFO director of pollution control, Mr Gandy Chega, commended the project contractor and consultant, who worked tirelessly to ensure timely completion of the project in line with project implementation schedule.
