The Permanent Secretary, Taraba State bureau for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Yerro has called on traditional rulers in the state to use the privilege of their stools to ensure that peace reigns among the inhabitants of their respective domains.

Yerro, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP said traditional rulers have a major role to play in uniting their subjects of different ethnic and religious affiliations for peaceful coexistence.

“I am appealing to all our royal fathers to effectively support government’s quest to ensure that peace reigns among all Tarabans irrespective of tribe, faith or socio-economic status.

“Provide requisite leadership and remain a beacon of hope for all, so that the developmental efforts of this administration will continue undiminished,” he advised.

He stressed that the need for peaceful coexistence is very important at this time that the nation is facing security challenges.

He commended Governor Darius Ishaku for his courage, wisdom determination and exemplary leadership style and as well as his regard for traditional institutions in the state.

“Just over a year ago, in 2017, Governor Ishaku gracefully appointed a new chief for the people of Gashaka LGA of the state and few days ago, he also presented staff of office to over forty traditional rulers” he added.

He explained that the recent appointment and presentation of staff of office to the new traditional rules by Governor Ishaku demonstrates his love, recognition and concern for the age long yearnings and aspirations of the diverse communities of the state.
