Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the 2019 Presidential elections on Monday urged eligible electorate to acquire their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to enable them vote in the 2019 general polls.
Dankwambo , who addressed the PDP North West Zone Statutory delegates in Kaduna, said he was in Kaduna to inform the delegates that he had joined other aspirants in the race to seek the PDP’s platform to contest for the presidency in the 2019 poll.
The Governor said he was a candidate to beat in the race and sought for the support of the delegates to enable him pick the PDP ticket for the presidential election come 2019.
He urged PDP delegates to ensure that the party supporters in the zone acquired their PVC before the end of August deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Presidential hopeful said, the North West Zone is the first he was visiting to declare his presidential ambition, because of the importance of the zone, adding that over 18 million votes in 2015 presidential poll came from the seven states that made up this zone.
He said the support of the delegates and the zone would go a long way to determine who would eventually emerge as the party’s Presidential flag bearer in the 2019 poll.
The Governor said that the PDP is expecting the votes from the zone to surpass that of 2015 elections by least two million votes in the 2019 presidential poll.
The North West Zonal Vice Chairman of the PDP, Ibrahim Kazaure, the Party’s National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, State Chairmen and Secretaries of the party from Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Katsina were among those who attended the event.
They all wished him well in his aspiration and assured to ensure a level playing ground for all the presidential aspirants.
