Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has said that marketing play a major role in the promotion of societal norms and values for sustainable development, while stressing that there is no organisation that will make any substantial achievements if the role played by marketing in making the society known to the outside world is ignored.
Represented by the commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mrs Ruth Jeofrey Alkali at the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), 2018 marketing week symposium, dinner and recognition night of NIMN Kaduna State chapter, governor el-Rufai expressed satisfaction with the institute activities and urged for sustenance.
He assured of his administration’s readiness to partner with the institute in order to further promote the activities of the government to the larger society to attract investors into the state.
Speaking in the same vein, the president and chairman of Council of NIMN, Mr Tony Agenmonmen, who was represented by the registration and secretary to the council, Mr Signet Ogodo, said marketing is promoting freedoms by creating choices and upgrading the competitiveness of stars and nations.
Earlier, Kaduna State chairman of NIMN, Mr Akogwu Yahaya John, emphasised that marketing in Nigeria today is repositioned as a living profession for sustaining the very essence of life, shaping the fortunes and destinies of people.
He explained that marketing set the agenda, it is the beginning and the end, stressing that marketing is the contemporary work ethics that is indispensable to all institutions.
The state chairman also stressed that marketing is the engine room of value creation for customer empowerment and society’s development, pointing out that the institute has the statutory mandate of regulating, controlling, promoting, educating/training and maintaining ethical standards in the practice of marketing profession in Nigeria.
Professor Seth K. Akutson spoke on the theme, Marketing: A catalyst for good governance and enduring democracy while Dr Kolawole O. Omole spoke on “The place of marketing in the socio – economic development of Kaduna State” just as Dr Aliyu Mammas spoke on “Environmental considerations in harnessing the economic opportunities in Kaduna State: The marketing perspective”.
