Stakeholders To Explore Growth Opportunities In Insurance, Pension Sectors

Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, would lead other stakeholders to discuss critical issues that will enable both sectors achieve their potential in the country’s financial services market at the National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO) third National Conference.

The conference, billed to hold on Thursday, August  9, 2018 in Lagos is themed: “The Role of Stakeholders in Developing Insurance and Pension Sectors.”

According to the organisers, the event is part of concerted efforts to explore ways of deepening the low penetration and poor acceptance of Nigeria’s insurance and pension concepts considering the nation’s huge population.

The event, to be chaired by Alhaji Bala Zakariya’u, past president, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), would have, as special dignitaries, the acting director general of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar, and the commissioner for insurance, Alhaji Mohammed Kari.

The body also revealed that the event will bring together, consumers and other stakeholders of the two industries to discuss issues, challenges and the way forward for economic growth and prosperity.

Sub-themes for deliberation at the conference include, ‘Making Insurance Attractive to Nigerians’; Exploring the Micro Pension Concept’ and, Creating Pension & Insurance Awareness: The Media Role.’

A statement from NAIPCO at the weekend, stressed that the event would provide journalists veritable opportunity to get feedback from the two industries as regards the roles of the ‘fourth estate of the realm’ in developing the sectors. The theme and the sub-themes, according to the association, had been carefully selected to reflect the current industry trends, with erudite speakers from both sectors and the academia also carefully selected.
