Power Installation Vandal Electrocuted In Kaduna



A middle aged man whose true identity is not known yet has been electrocuted while trying to vandalize power supply equipment belonging to Kaduna Electric at Samari distribution sub-station Unguwan Yelwa, Television, Kaduna.

A resident of the area who identified himself as Mr. Simon Dogo disclosed that the incident occurred at about 4:00am on Saturday, when the victim attempted to remove cable in the Distribution sub-station.

‘’He succeeded in removing one of the armored cables; perhaps it was in an attempt to remove the second and the third one that he met his untimely death’’, Mr. Simon stated.

At the scene of the electrocution, the lifeless body of the suspected vandal was seen lying on the ground with injuries on his head and face.

It would be recalled that the neighbouring Shamaki Distribution sub-station in the same community was also vandalized a day earlier obviously by the same syndicate.

The Head, Corporate Communication of Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullahi lamented the increasing gale of vandalism of power supply assets lately and called on communities in the southern parts of Kaduna metropolis to be more vigilant.

According to him, about ten distribution sub-stations were vandalized in the last one month in Barnawa Area office of the Company alone. “We appeal to our customers, most especially communities in the southern flank of the metropolis and vigilante groups to be more vigilant as there appears to be a syndicate operating around Barnawa, Narayi, Sabon Tasha, Television, as well as Kachia-Kafanchan axis,” he stated.
