A consulting firm, El-Trexone, has assured the victims of Boko Haram insurgency in Baga District of Kukuwa Local Government Area of Borno State of its continuous support.
The chairman, El-Trexone, Dr. Ibrahim Dikko gave the assurance yesterday in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the Baga District led by Maina Mustapha in his office.
Dr Dikko stated that he will continue to use his office to support the displaced victims by ensuring they are paid the compensation promised by federal government so as to start a new life.
He noted that about 1,340 were paid out of 5000 victims recorded to receive the compensation from federal government due some challenges with account.
He expressed optimism that the compensation will be paid as soon as they reconcile the challenges.
“A lot of them have their money blocked due to issues with account, about N90 million bounced back to Central Bank of Nigeria who made the payment. Those that got their compensation have returned home.
“As soon as this money is paid, it will facilitate conditions for the return of governance and public institutions, resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) back to their ancestral communities and replacing conditions for farming, fishing and other economic activities to thrive,” he said.
Earlier in his remark, the leader of the delegation, Maina Mustapha thanked Dr Dikko for his support especially his restless efforts to ensure that they are paid.
