The National Hajj Commission has allocated 1,587 Seats to the Muslim faithfuls in Taraba State for the 2018 Hajj Operation in Saudi Arabia.
The state executive secretary, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Umar Adamu Leme stated this while briefing newsmen yesterday in Jalingo on the Board’s preparedness to perform the exercise at the holy land, Saudi Arabia.
He lauded Governor Darius Ishaku for prompt release of funds, adding that the gesture had boosted the morale of the Board.
According to him, out of 756 Pilgrims filled by the Board for the journey to the holy land, Taraba State Government sponsored about 246 while 510 were self-sponsored.
“The state government has paid for about 246 Pilgrims for 2018 Hajj, individual sponsorship is about 510”, Alh. Adamu said.
On the issue of abscondment by pilgrims after the exercise, Adamu explained that since inception, Taraba Pilgrims have never indulged in such a nefarious act.
“We have our guide there. Our Pilgrims are well behaved, we have never experienced such in Taraba State and they have never absconded since I came on board”, he added.
