Ex-Convict In Police Net For Selling Dismantled Truck For N. 4m




Men of the Ogun State police command at the weekend, arrested an ex -convict, Yisa Nwachukwu for allegedly stealing and selling a truck belonging to his employer simply identified as alhaji Owonifaari.

Nwachukwu was arrested along with one other, Yusuf Sanusi at a sawmill area in Ota axis of Ado-Odo/Ota local government of Ogun state where they were dismantling the truck into pieces in order to sell it in parts.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest said the duo were arrested upon an intelligence report received by police at the Onipanu divisional headquarters in Ota.

Oyeyemi said Nwachukwu has confessed to stealing the truck which he sold to Sanusi at the rate of N400, 000 following the inability of his employer, Owonifaari to pay his July salary.

“On receiving the information, the DPO Onipanu led his detectives to the scene where Yisa Nwachukwu, who had earlier been arrested for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle, charged to court and convicted was again arrested together with his receiver, Yusuf Sanusi.

“On interrogation, Nwachukwu admitted that he was employed as a driver by the owner of the truck and when he was not paid his salary, he decided to abscond with the truck.

“He stated further that on his way to Nsuka in Enugu state, the truck developed mechanical fault and since he had no money to fix it, he called Yusuf Sanusi, who met him at Ore in Ondo state where the truck was towed to Ota after selling it to the receiver at the rate of N400, 000”.

PPRO explained further that another Gulf bus with registration number (LAGOS) FKJ 932 XS belonging to one Kingsley Unaka which was also stolen by Yisa Nwachukwu was recovered at the sawmill where the suspects were dismantling the truck.
